Complete the guided follow-along for every core feature, then apply the full workflow to one course activity.

Construct a rubric with at least two criteria, two ratings per criterion, and an intentional scoring configuration. Configure settings that control grading, score display, comments, and student interaction. Attach a rubric to an assignment and locate the rubric workflow for a graded discussion. Complete and revise a rubric assessment in SpeedGrader, including criterion feedback and grade verification. Preview student visibility and self-evaluation when enabled. Test and document one complete rubric workflow from construction through student-facing feedback.

Instructor workflow

Use the rubric in SpeedGrader

Open the correct activity in SpeedGrader. Open or expand the rubric. Select a rating or scale level. Enter a criterion score when permitted. Add criterion-level comments. Review the rubric total or result. Save the rubric assessment. Verify the assignment grade field. Confirm student feedback visibility.

Student interaction

Student view and self-evaluation

Before submission

Verify where students locate the rubric and whether it is readable without verbal explanation.

Native self-evaluation

Use only when enabled and verified locally. Test what students enter, what instructors see, and whether it affects the official grade.

After grading

Confirm ratings, criterion comments, rubric score or scale result, and assignment grade visibility.

Different workflowsViewing a rubric, submitting a separate reflection, and completing a native Canvas self-assessment are not the same experience.

Build Mode

Apply the complete Canvas workflow to one course activity. Do not spend the lab rewriting rubric content.
